D.M. Rowe教授简介:
Prof. Rowe received his PhD degree from University of Wales, UK in 1967. He was promoted to Professor in Cardiff University in 1995 and appointed as Honorary Research Professor in 2007.
Professor Rowe’s research interests are in the preparation and characterisation of thermoelectric semiconductors and their application in refrigeration and generation, particularly in waste heat recovery. Forty years of research effort is embodied in more than 350 publications, which includes three books, editorship of three International Conference Proceedings, and the best selling definitive texts- the CRC Handbook of Thermoelectrics (1995) and Macro to Nano Thermoelectrics (2005). He has served as session chairman and presented plenary and invited lectures at numerous international conferences, symposia and workshops. He was the president of the International Thermoelectric Society from 1997 to 2001, and elected president of the European Thermoelectric Society.
Professor Rowe creates the world first ICT miniature thermoelectric convertor, registered 1987 and patented 1988. He received a £2.2M research grant, in total, from the Japanese New Energy and Technology Development Organisation (NEDO) to develop thermoelectric generating technology for low temperature waste heat recovery in 1994. On 23 May 2007 He received the order of Knighthood called ‘The most excellent order of the British Empire’ (OBE) from her Royal Highness Queen Elisabeth11 at Buckingham Palace. He was recipient of the 2008 Gold medal for contributions to thermoelectricity and was appointed an Honorary Academician of the Institution of Refrigeration. He served as thermoelectric materials expert on panel of US Department of Energy and Science ‘Frontiers Research Centres Programme’ in February 2009.
