The Institute of High-Temp Alloys of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University began preparing in 2014 and was established in May of 2018. The research institute focuses on high-performance structural materials within the country’s major needs. It features research on the relationships between material properties and microstructures, and in-depth forays into key scientific and technological issues in the design optimization, precision preparation and performance control of advanced superalloys and components. The Institute also realizes the application of these materials in aerospace, thermoelectric, and nuclear power equipment.
The institute has many experts in the fields of precision manufacturing and processing, mechanical properties testing, and microstructure analysis. The institute, with Prof. Zhang Ze, an Academic of the Chinese Academy of Sciences at the helm, has formed a complete personnel structure in the field of materials research including alloy design, alloy melting, precision solidification, service performance testing, and microstructure analysis. The experts include:
1 Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences
1 Distinguished Qiushi Professor of Zhejiang University
1 Expert of Hundred Talent Program of Zhejiang University
Zhejiang University has invested over RMB 36 million to purchase its primary experiment equipment, and the Tonglu County government constructed a new laboratory across approximately 4,000 square meters. Research bases can now perform high temperature alloy optimization designs, microstructure analyses, precision molding, performance testing, and so much more.
